Hello, Tokyo!

Oh yes, I'm back and first order of business? Japanese Food!

What are the perks of having a multiple entry Japanese tourist visa? Well, it's obviously a given fact that you now have an option to go back to Japan as many times as you want. Heck, this trip alone is my 4th in a span of 3 years! Haha. Others claimed that once you have that visa, it's much easier to get another visa from a different country. Hmmm, I think so too!

Maybe some of you are wondering why I'm back in Japan when I was there just last November 2014. This trip wasn't even planned in the first place. It was one of those biglaan moments na.. "Uyyy, may seat sale! Tara, book tayo!" Timing was perfect because travel period for that sale was for March 2015. And kapag sinabi na March, almost spring na. No more snow and best part of it all, cherry blossom season!


Meet my bestfriend Faye and her brother Francis. They went to Japan for a business trip to promote Nathaniel's at Foodex Japan.

For our first pitstop, I invited them to checkout Tsukiji Market which is a wrong move on my part because we arrived past 4:00PM and most shops and restos were already closed that time. Please be reminded that the best time to go to Tsukiji Market is morning 'til noon. ;)



I was too hungry to even have time to take photos of my sushi so I grabbed these from Faye's iphone.


After our super duper late lunch we went to DiverCity Tokyo Plaza to meet up with friends of friends of my friends. Did that make sense? Haha. Anyway, please say hello to my blonde girlfriend Diana Jacinto of Oh Hello Dy. :) She's one of the most artistic person I've ever met (follow her on Instagram!), she loves Pandas, all things Pentel and of course Japan!


Meet my tadhana (LOL) Jay. We celebrated our first night (Wow, first night. Very BF-GF levels. Haha) in Japan with tebasaki (Japanese chicken wings), karaage (Japanese fried chicken) and beers. Kampai!


After almost 18,000 steps, it was time to rest. I survived walking around Tokyo for almost 10 hours in my 4-inch booties! Literal na tiis ganda. Haha. Thanks to Faye and his kuya Francis for accommodating us in their room at Mitsui Garden Hotel Chiba. This is my first time to stay at a hotel in Japan and I'm quite surprised to see that the room was very spacious. ;) Contrary siya to the thought na most properties in Japan medyo tight or masikip due to lack of space.


The next day, it was time to leave Tokyo...

Tsukiji Market

They say you're in the happiest place on earth whenever you visit Disneyland. But in may case, I'm at my happiest when I visited Japan's Tsukiji Market.

Tsukiji Market is best known as one of the world's largest fish markets, handling over 2,000 tons of marine products per day. It is scheduled to move to a new site in Toyosu in November 2016.

Believe it or not this is my first time to visit the market to think this is my 3rd time in Japan. I did not plan on seeing the tuna auction 'coz we're too lazy to be up before 5AM so we went around past 11AM to have brunch at the outer market that consists of small retail shops and restaurants.






I was expecting the market to look, feel and smell fishy but it was the exact opposite of what we saw that day. Everything's in order, very clean and neat talaga ng mga Japanese. :)


People started lining up in different restaurants. Super jampacked! And ang hirap pumili. Haha.

 
For our appetizer, we bought a freshly cooked tamago for only ¥100.

 
These freshly grilled Hiroshima oysters are soooo good that I can eat them all in one sitting. They cost ¥500 each. Mahalia jackson!


But since our goal in Tsukiji Market is to have brunch, we just ordered a huge bowl of Chirashi-don.


Ordering a chirashi is a great way to taste ALL the fresh seafood caught that day. ANG SARAP. Period. Bring me back to Japan please?!

Yakimix Prime BGC

It seems everywhere you go in Manila, there will always be a restaurant that offers buffet. The latest that opened in my neighborhood of Bonifacio Global City (Taguig) is Yakimix Prime, located at the 2/F of Wumaco Bldg. in Bonifacio High Street where Seventh High club used to be.


We had dinner here last May 3, 2014 to take advantage of their promo of free buffet for birthday celebrants. The promo is valid 3 days before and after your birthday plus your group must have a minimum of 4 pax (celebrant included) to avail the said promo. :) Buti na lang umabot pa. Hihi.


I was quite surprised by the chicness of the interiors and how huge the place was. Can't believe it used to be a bar.


According to our waiter, they can accommodate up to 300 guests.


Compared to the regular Yakimix buffet, I noticed that they've added more to the raw meat and seafood section.


They also have more Filipino, Korean and Japanese dishes in the menu. Did I mention they now serve San Miguel beer too? Unlimited!

As expected in every buffet, I was always in the sushi and sashimi station. Hey, it's not the best but not the worst either. ;)

Rate for weekday lunch buffet starts at ₱638.00 while dinner's at ₱788.00. For weekends and other special holidays it's ₱888.00. If you're eating with kiddos below 4 feet it's ₱388.00, anything below 3 feet gets in for free! ;)

Just Another Day in Sydney

Feels good to be back in the city! :) Our itinerary for today was to check out Macquarie Park to look for job opportunities.


Macquarie Park is a suburb in northern Sydney.


Apart from Sydney CBD, Macquarie Park is also home to to some of the biggest corporations. Here's my cousin Jay before his meeting at the Johnson & Johnson head office. ;)


We didn't stayed that long because my Aunt and I wanted to bring Jay at Umi Kaiten Zushi.

 
Can I just share with you the train station in Macquarie Park? Don't you just wish our local train stations in Manila looked as good as this? So neat, so clean. Akala mo airport! Haha. It looked like a ghost town few minutes before lunch break.


Spotted docked at the Circular Quay is Queen Mary 2 which is the world's biggest cruise liner.




Hanggang pangarap ka na lang ba? LOL.

As of publishing this post, the Queen Mary 2 is currently docked in Bangkok heading towards Singapore on the 10th. It is completing a round-the-world voyage to mark its 10th anniversary. Kailangan ko ata manalo ng lotto to experience this kind of cruise ship. Rates don't go below US$1200. I am definitely including this to my travel bucket list. A girl can dream right? Haha.

Sharing with you a little 'weird' fact about my cousin. Jay is based in Tokyo, Japan and has been living there for two decades if I'm not mistaken. Being a Japanese citizen, he prefers having Japanese food only in Japan. He firmly believes that it's safer to consume Japanese food ONLY in Japan. ANO DAW?! Haha.


So here's his reaction the moment we went inside Umi Kaiten Zushi. HAHAHAHA. Obviously not happy with our choice of resto for late lunch.

 
Sorry Jay, Tita Lulu and I just can't say no to good sushi and sashimi! Hihi.
When in Sydney and craving for Japanese food I highly recommend Umi Kaiten Zushi! ;)

The thing I hate the most when blogging is remembering how good the food was during a trip. It's almost 2:00 in the morning and I am badly craving for Japanese food. BUT WAIT, there's more! After our whole day trip in the city, it was time to go back home to Penrith.

 
In Australia, malls are usually closed by 5:00PM (except Thursday where shops close at 9:00PM) which really sucks. Shopping is not an option but eating puwedeng puwede! ;) Our dinner that night was at Hog's Breath Cafe in Westfield Penrith.

 
 
Hog's Breath Cafe obviously specializes in meat. Bawal ang vegetarian dito. Hehe.

Can I pause blog for now and savour the taste of all the food consumed today?! I bet you're all hungry by now. I love Sydney and I love steak, 'nuff said! *burp*
