Above information is how the hotel presents itself on their website.
Below is my experience based on a one-night stay at the property.

My arrival experience: Warm welcome with a drink and towel before being escorted to the room.

What I loved: The design, the staff and food.

What about the food: The food exceeded my expectations by far and in the end why I liked Hansar more than the other resorts I stayed on Koh Samui. Most luxury resorts I have stayed in Asia, as lovely as they are, are unfortunately failing when it comes to food. Especially European food. Hansar Samui has a Canadian chef (Stephane), that used to be the private chef for the King of Jordan. My Thai lunch was very good, and the French-styled dinner comparable to a Michelin restaurant in Europe. Excellent imported food such as the French sea bass I had for main course.

What about the service: Most of the staff are really wonderful, smiling, helpful and I only found a few that would need more training. The resort is well-managed and things works. If they don't work, they staff will fix it immediately. The resort could be a great addition to the Small Luxury Hotels of the World-collection as it's a truly great resort in all areas of the hotel.

What about the rooms: Beautifully designed rooms with freestanding bathtubs with flowers and bathsalt. My room also had separate rainshower and comfortable bed, all in a beautiful modern design.

Number of rooms: 74.

Website: www.hansarsamui.com

Type of property: Resort.

Location: Koh Samui, Thailand.

Facilities: Swimming pool, spa and gym. The spa is beautiful and I had a great treatment from the well-trained therapist.

Complimentary internet: Yes. Had a problem, but the resort fixed it and it was fast and stable afterwards.

My overall impression: Great+ experience. The high ranking is well-deserved and Hansar is my personal favourite among the luxury resorts I visited during my recent trip to Koh Samui.
