Santiburi Beach Resort & Spa

Introduction: Stretched out along the golden sands of Samui’s Mae Nam beach, Santiburi inhabits one of the most breathtaking places on Earth. Where idyllic Thai coastline meets 23 acres (9.3 hectares) of tropical gardens, our five-star resort enjoys absolute privacy and tranquillity. A member of Leading Hotels of the World, Santiburi offers an authentic blend of contemporary Thai design and warm local hospitality. Our luxurious suites and villas are all freshly renovated, offering superlative comfort and modernity with an unmistakably Thai touch.

Above information is how the hotel presents itself on their website.
Below is my experience based on a one-night stay at the property.

My arrival experience: Warm welcome with a drink before being escorted to the villa.

What I loved: The villa and the beautiful public swimming pool.

What about the food: Sadly, I have to say it's bad. I tried both their international restaurant on the beach and their indoor Thai restaurant. An inedible pizza and below average Thai food is not good enough for a member of the Leading Hotels of the World. The breakfast buffet was very disappointing as well and one of worst I have seen in any resort in Thailand. Sad, but true.

What about the service: The service is good, and many of the staff are friendly and kind. More training would be needed to reach a level worthy of LHW in my opinion. I am sorry for saying this, but I have to be honest.

What about the rooms: Beautiful designed villas and what I liked most about the resort. Interesting bathtub and rainshower in the bathroom, while they should have done more effort with their bath products. In a LHW I would expect a premium product like Molton Brown or Bulgari, while I personally would prefer Ren. Some villas have large swimming pool, while mine had a plunge pool. The location right on the beach is lovely and I overall find the villas to be up to the standards of LHW. They must improve the food a lot and a service a bit to fully deserve the status in my opinion. The potential is there and a chef from abroad is probably all they need.

Number of rooms: 77 rooms.
