Introduction: Situated in the heart of Tripoli, AL WADDAN HOTEL nestles between the beautiful mature trees and shrubs that line the Corniche.
AL WADDAN in Tripoli's oldest hotel, dating back to the 1930's, and newest renovation which, without a doubt is Libya's most elegant boutique hotel.
Above information is how the hotel presents itself on their website.
Below is my experience based on a one-night stay at the property.
First note: Al Waddan used to be managed by IHG, but they have now left and the property is on its own.
My arrival experience: Long check-in process, but that is probably expected in Libya at present.
What I loved: To still find a safe hotel with comfortable rooms and free internet access is pretty fantastic when you think ao
What about the service: Friendly staff, but you can't expect IHG-standards in Libya with the current situation in the country.
What about the rooms: Comfortable rooms almost up to the standard of older InterContinental hotels I have stayed. Working desk, flat screen Tv, free internet access, and all, according to Tripadvisor, in a smoke-free environment. Very impressive for a country like Libya.
Number of rooms: 90.
Website: www.alwaddanhotel.com
Type of property: City hotel.
Location: Tripoli, Libya.
Facilities: Spa, pool, gym and business/meeting facilities.
Complimentary internet: Yes.
My overall impression: Good experience.
