Airbnb in Melbourne CBD

This designer apartment is located right smack in the middle of Melbourne CBD. My photos don't do justice so if you want to go ahead and look at this listing click here.

The space is 62 sqm and is probably one of the biggest Airbnb apartments we've stayed at. Located in a building from 1910, this renovated warehouse space with 3.5 metre high ceilings is the perfect place for those who come to visit Melbourne for shopping, or for business.

According to the owner, no one lives here so this apartment probably serves like an extra income for him or something. He provided all the usual stuff and added earplugs too since the apartment is facing a busy street with tram bells ringing every 5 mins or so.

Location is king! The apartment was very easy to find thanks to this H&M store right across our building. Like I said earlier, it was in the middle of everything so you don't necessarily need to get on a tram to get around the city.

We rarely used the kitchen since there were a lot of restaurants nearby. I find it cute though that the owner has this random collection/obsession with gourmet herbs and spices.

 
I forgot to take photos of the bathroom so I just grabbed these from the listing. There were shampoos and soap provided but Paolo said some were already expired so we did not bother using them. Haha.

Our stay in Jamie's chic apartment was overall fantastic. I didn't have any problems sleeping (note: dead tired) despite hearing the trams pass by all night. Checking-in and out was a breeze plus we really couldn't complain about the location, it was excellent! Highly recommended when you're flying to Melbourne for a weekend or so.

Airbnb Meetup in Manila

I have been a member of Airbnb since September 2012 and recommending it to family and friends as a great alternative to your usual hotel accommodations. Just last month, the company rebranded and showed off its new logo, the Bélo (if I heard it right, it is pronounced as bey-loh). At first, to be honest, I didn't liked it. Heck, I didn't even have an idea there was a social media backlash. But I suggest you watch this video for better understanding why the logo looks like that now. Ang galing! ;)

Anyway, so I got an email inviting me to the Airbnb meetup in Manila which I attended last August 15, 2014 at Relik Tapas Bar & Lounge in Bonifacio Global City Taguig. Photos posted were grabbed from the Airbnb Philippines FB page.

We had our photos taken with this makeshift IG photobooth (hehe) and had dinner while waiting for program to start. ;) Sending a shoutout to Tammy David who was our photographer that night. She's a friend of my boss so I'm glad to meet her. Hehe.


I mingled with fellow members and hosts by sharing our travel stories and discoveries using Airbnb.


Our program started with an introduction by Joy Tacandong (Partnerships & Marketing) who flew in from Airbnb Singapore.

Of course I also shared my experience as a member. Remember the apartments I stayed at in Macau and Seoul? Anyway, those who shared got an awesome shirt from Airbnb. Woop woop! ;)

Apart from Manila, Airbnb also had a stopover in Cebu for the community meetup. Click here for photos from their event. Hindi na sana ako pupunta 'coz I couldn't find my name in the guest list (even if I RSVP'd) but I took my chances because I'm really interested to list my space and learn more about hosting. So thank you so much to Joy for the invite, I learned a lot from this meetup. ;)

 
Few days after the event, I wore my Airbnb shirt and found out later in the afternoon about the good news from Nuffnang Philippines and Airbnb. Coincidence? Maybe.

Remember #MyAirbnbBucketList post? It won and I got second place! Woohoo! Congratulations as well to fellow winners Nina Fuentes and Macy Añonuevo. ;) Time to tick off a new place to our travel bucketlist ladies! Perfect timing 'coz I am currently planning my trip to Osaka this October! How about you? ;)

My Airbnb Bucket List

As a travel blogger, I'm always on the go hopping from one place to another. One of the hardest things to do before traveling (apart from booking airline tickets of course) is looking for a place to stay to your destination. I used to stay in hotels back when I still had unlimited funds from the parents. Haha. But then as time passed by, I realized that I needed to be more practical until I discovered Airbnb.

Airbnb is a trusted booking site for people to list, discover, and rent out accommodations around the world. I started using Airbnb back in December 2013 when I only had a few days left to prepare for a sudden flight to Macau. That didn't stopped there because I used the site once more last March 2014 for a trip in Seoul, South Korea.

Airbnb connects people to unique travel experiences, at any price point, in more than 34,000 cities and 192 countries. Here's a wish list of the dream homes I wish to stay at in my future travels:

1. Candace's Loft in Hong Kong - This apartment has been in my list for quite some time now. I like the modern feel and size of this apartment which you rarely see in Hong Kong hotels.


2. Steve's Duplex Style Loft in Seoul - Apart from monochromatic themed homes, I also have a heart for modern and colorful lofts like this one in Seoul.


3. Edd's Maisonette in Osaka - My friends and I are flying to Osaka on October 31 for halloween and I think this huge apartment is a great rental place to check out.


4. Judy's Apartment in Australia - Laid back living in the outback anyone?


5. Jeje's Garden Cabin in Bali - The wooden design of this antique country house makes me feel like I'll always be in my moment of zen.


6. Walid's Apartment in Dubai - It's a dream to have that panoramic view of the Persian Gulf together with the amazing man made islands in the entire universe, The Palm.


7. Laurence's House in Paris - Wouldn't it be nice to spend your holidays with someone special and feel like a local in the most romantic place in the world?
