Uma by COMO, Paro

Introduction: Uma by COMO, Paro, is an intimate, 29-room resort featuring the most exclusive private villas in Bhutan with an enviable location in the Paro Valley. This puts you within striking distance of the country’s great cultural landmarks. The style combines local artisanship with COMO’s contemporary style, while activities range from yoga to Himalayan camping adventures. Our Bukhari restaurant is a royal favourite.

Above information is how the hotel presents itself on their website.
Below is my experience based on a one-night stay at the property.

How to get here: Drukair flies to Paro from Bagdogra, Bangkok, Delhi, Dhaka, Gaya, Guwahati, Kathmandu, Kolkata, Mumbai, Singapore. I flew with them from Bangkok to Paro and then to Singapore. It was two pleasant flights and the arrival into Paro is exceptionally beautiful.

Recommended Tour Operator: Windhorse Tours, Treks and Expeditions was a great company to work with from beginning to end. Organized my visa, my tours, a great driver and guide. I loved Bhutan and would like to use them again in the future.

My arrival experience: Warm welcome with a fantastic drink before being escorted to the room by the American front office manager.

What I loved: The authentic experience, the great food and the wonderful staff.

What about the food: I was pleasantly surprised about most thing here, but the food was the biggest surprise. Absolutely wonderful and comparable to a Michelin recommended or I would even go as far as saying a starred restaurant in Europe. Well-trained chefs in the kitchen using expensive high quality imported ingredients from mainly Australia. My Australian sea bass and scallops was of extraordinary quality.

What about the service: The Bhutanese people are truly wonderful and the staff at COMO no exception. Well-trained, service minded, professional and smiling. Just wonderful to experience. The American front office manager was very kind and professional as well making me feel like an important guest from the minute I stepped in.

What about the rooms: The standard rooms are unique designed and charming, despite being small and not having rain shower in the bathroom. My bed was comfortable and it was also great to have a shower with COMO's wonderful own products. The best thing about the rooms are, however, the outstanding views.
