InterContinental Lagos

Introduction: InterContinental Lagos is located on Victoria Island, in the centre of Lagos, home to major consulates and multinational companies, making it the perfect residence for affluent business and diplomatic travellers. Built on an elevated terrain overlooking Lagos’ port, the hotel offers uninterrupted spectacular views of the Lagos Skyline, ample meeting space and grandiose accommodations. Our restaurants offer an array of delicious dining options from cosmopolitan to Nigerian delicacies.

Above information is how the hotel presents itself on their website.

Below is my experience based on a one-night stay at the property.

My arrival experience: Fast check-in before being escorted to the room.
What I loved: The design. The hotel looks like an InterContinental hotel.
What about the food: The breakfast buffet is large and I appreciated the freshly made juices.
What about the service: Some of the staff are great, professional and service-minded while others had a bad attitude.
What about the rooms: The rooms are beautiful and up to InterContinental's standards. My standard room had a comfortable bed, working desk, Tv, bathtub and rain shower. Twice, I didn't have hot water and had unpleasant shower experiences. Also, the noise level in the room is probably the worst of any 5-star hotel I have stayed. The door had lots of space beneath it like what you will find in a cheap hostel. Not good. At first, the room feels like an InterContinental, but then you notice all the missing attention to simple details.
Number of rooms: 358.
Type of property: City hotel.
Location: Lagos, Nigeria.
Facilities: Spa, gym, pool and business/meeting facilities.
Complimentary internet: Yes, but very slow. The hotel has a maximum connection of 1 MB per second, much lower than any of the other hotels I stayed in Nigeria. I never reached 1 MB and couldn't call or watch videos without heavy lacks. Their direct competitors Radisson Blu, The Wheatbaker and The Geroge all have good internet, and InterContinental must act on this immediately and upgrade their system. Not only is the internet very slow, but the connection is also weak in the room, and my iPad was disconnected many times. More routers, better provider. Now.
My overall impression: Good+ experience. It looks like an InterContinental hotel at first, but it must fix the issues above to meet the standards of the brand.
